2 of 11 Alder trees removal on Hamilton Pde

10 August 2018

A section of Hamilton’s river path network will be closed for three days next week to allow for the urgent removal of a group of alder trees.

The closure will be from 8am to 4pm from Monday 13 August to Wednesday 15 August, and is to allow for a safe work site for arborists undertaking the work.

An inspection of the trees this week revealed several are in poor condition, some are dead, and the possibility of failure presents a risk to users of this popular section of the city’s river path network.

Path users will need to detour off the path via Dillicar St and Victoria St and can exit/rejoin the path just south of the Fairfield Bridge.

Hamilton City Council apologises for the short notice on this closure, but the work is considered essential.

Regular path users can sign up to Hamilton City Council’s river path notification system by visiting hamilton.govt.nz/riverpaths
