Update: Sudden death at Castle Rock, near Whitianga
About 10am on Sunday 19 August, Police attended the scene of a reported climbing incident at Castle Rock, near Whitianga.
Police can confirm a 28-year-old woman died at the scene.
The woman is a United States citizen who was living in New Zealand.
Waikato Police are working closely with the United States Consulate, who are in contact with the woman’s family and the Coroner’s office.
Enquiries are ongoing to understand the circumstances of the woman's death.
No further information is available at this stage.
