"Serious crash blocking lanes on Northern Motorway"

Police are responding to a serious crash on the Northern Motorway north of the Onewa Road off-ramp where a vehicle has rolled.

One person has serious injuries and is being transported to Auckland Hospital.

The vehicle is blocking lanes and all northbound lanes are currently closed, with northbound traffic being diverted off the motorway at Onewa Road.

This will cause significant traffic disruption and Police are urging motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Police are working to re-open some of the lanes as soon as it is possible to do so.

The Serious Crash Unit is attending the incident.
