Three people have been charged and stolen property has been recovered following the assault of an elderly Greymouth man on Sunday 19 August.

Greymouth Police have charged three males today in relation to the assault and aggravated robbery of the man in his home.

The arrests come on the back of a strong response from the community who provided valuable information.

As well as the charges laid today the majority of the property stolen in the aggravated robbery has also been recovered.

The victim has been informed of the chargess and is very grateful.

The three males aged 14, 15 and 16 have been charged with aggravated robbery.

One of the males appeared in the Youth Court this afternoon and the other two will be appearing tomorrow.

“Greymouth Police have worked tirelessly to achieve the arrests today and hold those responsible to account.

We along with the community will not tolerate attacks, such as that which happened on Sunday night, on innocent members of our community.

“It has been a real team effort as the CIB have been piecing everything together as the information has flowed in. It is a testament to my team’s commitment to making sure the people in our community feel safe,” said Relieving Area Commander Jacqui Corner.
