Crash on SH 1, Meremere

Two people are understood to be seriously injured following reports of a crash on SH 1 at Meremere this morning.

Indications at this stage are that up to five vehicles are involved, in what could be two separate crashes in close proximity.

One northbound and one southbound lane near Island Block Road remain blocked as emergency services attend.

Extensive delays are expected for motorists.
