Hutt Valley students march for mental health

High school students from across the Hutt Valley will march through Lower Hutt tomorrow (Friday August 24) to raise awareness of mental health.

The march has been organised by student leaders from Hutt Valley High School, Sacred Heart College, St Bernard’s College, Chilton St James, Naenae College and St Oran’s College.

The march was borne out of a desire from the student leaders of the high schools to collaborate and make positive changes for their rangatahi.

The march will begin at Taita Rock at 2.30pm, it will continue down the Hutt River Trail, arriving at Hutt Valley High School at approximately 5.00pm. Those marching will be wearing purple in support of the Mental Health Foundation and its work to raise awareness. Around 300 students and community members are expected to join the march.
