Following the success of previous hazardous waste drop offs, the council is again offering residents the opportunity to dispose of their hazardous waste at no charge.

A final three drop offs will be held throughout the district over two days in September.

The first drop off will be in the Waiau Hall car park on Thursday 6 September at 10am-midday, followed by another in the Cheviot Library car park on the same day at 2-4pm. The final drop off will take place at the Amberley Transfer Station on Friday 7 September, 10am-1pm.

Council Waste Minimisation Team Leader, Sally Cracknell, says the scheme has already proved hugely popular with 3.7 tonnes of hazardous waste collected at the last three drop offs.

“I’m thrilled that demand has been so great that we have been able to justify a further three drop offs.”

“It’s fantastic that we can assist the public with the disposal of hazardous waste that accumulates on their properties. We encourage residents to take up this final opportunity that will aid them financially when disposing of their waste,” says Cracknell.

Residents can drop off any hazardous waste including light bulbs and tubes, paint, stains and solvents, household and garden chemicals, car and electric fencing batteries, and agrichemicals.
