Christchurch man sustains minor injuries in explosion
Attribute to Senior Sergeant Craig Johnson:
A Christchurch man has had a lucky escape after an explosion at his home this morning.
The explosion, which occurred at around 10.30am, was strong enough to break windows in the man's house.
Fortunately he only sustained minor injuries - cuts to his hands and fingers, and singed hair.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the explosion and Police will be working with investigators from Fire and Emergency New Zealand to understand the circumstances.
A scene guard will be in place at the man's home today to allow investigators to examine the scene.
