Strike action tomorrow morning a disruption

MEDIA RELEASE

25 September August 2018

Strike action tomorrow morning a disruption for Hamilton bus passengers

Hamilton bus services will be disrupted tomorrow morning due to industrial action by bus drivers.

First Union members have given notice to Go Bus Transport that they will strike from 5.30am tomorrow, 26 September, until 9.30am.

All regional services – 20 Cambridge, 21 Northern Connector, 22 Morrinsville/Paeroa, 23 Raglan and 24 Te Awamutu – will run as normal. The Orbiter will also run as normal.

The 29 Hamilton Gardens service will not operate.

All other Hamilton bus services will operate on limited timetables with reduced frequency. The timetable will be released later today. For details of the revised timetables, visit the Busit website, www.busit.co.nz, or Facebook page www.facebook.com/BUSITWaikato/, or call 0800 205 305.

Waikato Regional Council, which is responsible for managing bus service contracts in the Waikato region, urged people to check for updates before they travelled, in case there were further changes.

The council is working closely with Go Bus to minimise the inconvenience to passengers as much as possible. People can also contact the BUSIT call centre, which is open 24/7.

Public Transport manager Andrew Wilson said service updates would be posted to the Go Bus Facebook page and website.

“Please check individual route information before travelling in the morning and if people have any queries they are welcome to give us a call on 0800 205 305.”

“We apologise for any inconvenience and are working closely with Go Bus to minimise disruption for passengers.”
