Expressions of Interest open for Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō café
Horowhenua District Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from café operators to lease and operate the Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō café.
Located in Levin, Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō is a specially designed and developed multi-purpose cultural and community facility which attracts 450,000 visitors each year.
Horowhenua District Council’s Community Facilities and Events Manager, Brent Harvey, said the café has its own space at the heart of the facility and is a popular spot for people and groups to meet.
“We’re conscious that the café is valued by our community and we aim to have a new leaseholder in place by the time the current lease expires to ensure it stays open continuously,” he said.
Current leaseholders Matt and Julie Bell decided not to renew the lease to focus on their core business, Focal Point Cinema and Café.
However, Mr Bell said they look forward to working with Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō in the future.
Mr Bell assured Libretto staff there would be no redundancies or loss of work hours.
“All Libretto staff will transfer to Focal Point,” he said.
The successful operator will have the option of buying the existing café fixtures and fittings, including the well-known ‘Libretto’ sign.
Expressions of Interest close at 4pm on Friday 9 November 2018.
