Ashhurst water supply is now restored

Ashhurst water supply is now restored, following the replacement of a water main that burst overnight.

“There may be some water discolouration, however it’s safe for drinking,” says Robert van Bentum, PNCC Transport and Infrastructure Manager.

“We recommend people delay laundry washing till water’s clear, to avoid staining clothes.”

Council has made available some bottled water from Ashhurst Library from 7am Wednesday for those who prefer to use it till water is cleared.

“There is currently not enough water supply for people to run their taps for lengthy periods. Tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon, the water supply levels is expected to be back to normal.”

A water tanker is still on site at Lincoln Park carpark till 8pm (Tuesday) for those who want to fill their own containers.

Palmerston North City Council thanks Ashhurst residents for their patience and understanding. Council’s Facebook page will be updated if there is any further information.
