"Witnesses sought following pharmacy robbery"

Wellington Police are investigating after a pharmacy was robbed on Queen Street, Upper Hutt this morning.

Police were called about 10.50am to a report of a man having entered the pharmacy armed with a craft knife.

He made off with a small amount of prescription medication.

Police have carried out an area examination and are following positive lines of inquiry.

Residents may notice an increased Police presence in the next couple of days while inquiries continue.

Police are looking for a man described as in his 40s, about 178cm tall, and was wearing grey tracksuit pants and a grey hoodie with a grey checked scarf around his face.

He is believed to have left the area either riding or pushing a bike.

Anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have any information about the person involved is urged to get in touch with Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000.

Information can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
