Man arrested after attempted abduction and indecent acts

A 27-year-old Huntly man was arrested yesterday following an attempted abduction and a series of indecent acts towards children in Hamilton.

An investigation began when a four-year-old girl was abducted in Hamilton on 5 October.

The girl was pulled into a car, then pushed out again when a family member came out of a nearby house and chased the vehicle.

The man has been charged with one count of kidnapping, four counts of committing an indecent act, and two counts of presenting an indecent show/performance.

He will appear in Hamilton District Court today, 13 November.

Police would like to speak to anyone whose child has recently been the victim of an indecent incident in Hamilton, particularly involving a man driving a white car.

If you have any information, please contact Detective Constable Rhiannon Jones, Hamilton CIB – 021 930 204
