Wellness Retreat or Festival? Biophilia is Both.

There is a movement afoot, and it’s changing the fabric of our society. More and more people are unwilling to put up with the nonstop, overstimulated merry-go-round of our modern lifestyle, and they’re seeking a different way to live. There is a quiet craving for something different, a deeper connection and purpose.

Hundreds of seekers have now found their answer at Biophilia: a groovy hybrid between a multi-day music festival and a trendy wellness retreat. Catering to a forward-thinking, healthy-lifestyle-oriented crowd, the festival is first-of-its-kind in New Zealand with a newly imagined immersive experience.

Now in its fourth year, co-creator Damian Chaparro combined his passion for music as a DJ (he spins as DJamaste) and more than 15 years of experience crafting world-class retreat experiences. He is one of the visionaries behind New Zealand’s internationally recognized Aro Ha Wellness Retreat.

Biophilia offers the mind, body and spirit-expanding value of a wellness retreat, in an accessible, community-oriented festival format. A transformational experience no longer has to feel intimidating or out of reach—Biophilia opens the doors to anyone who is curious and eager to feel something different.” – Damian Chaparro, Biophilia Festival Co-Creator

Biophilia participants are invited to enjoy an immersive multi-day experience, with a wide range of sessions available through the day. Most of the festival’s activities take place outdoors, or underneath tipis and stretch tents, with many participants enjoying bare feet in the sunshine. Attendees report feeling renewed, refreshed and vibrant after this powerful pattern-interrupt. There is a strong focus on reconnecting with the earth and natural wellbeing, as the festival is set amongst ethereal alpine scenery, steps away from peaceful Moke Lake a few minutes drive from Queenstown.

“Perhaps one of the most exciting things about Biophilia is the chance to explore new activities in a relaxed, low-pressure environment. It was a great opportunity to meet world-class teachers, practitioners and instructors from near and far, offering enriching sessions on dozens of skills and topics. I tried many things for the first time, like Acro yoga, slackline and Ecstatic dance. The free-flowing format of the festival allowed me to design my own customized wellness retreat”. – Laura Palmieri, Biophilia 2018 attendee.

Biophilia’s stunning natural setting not only inspires movement, connection and introspection, but also fosters a greener take on the typical festival. Attendees are asked to “leaves no trace” and without the distractions of smartphones and alcohol, festival attendees may find Biophilia delivers on its promise of re-evolution.

Tickets are on sale now for $159 for a 3-day all-inclusive pass. Children’s, 1- and 2-day passes are also available, at biophilia.co.nz/buy-ticket/.
