Otara housing incident

We are shocked and saddened by the incident at the Otara housing units this morning. Two young people, who were our tenants, have been injured and are being looked after in Middlemore Hospital. They’re in critical care, their families are with them. We ask that people respect their privacy and give them as much time as they need to deal with this event.

Presently, we are working with local authorities, the fire department and the police to fully understand the reasons for this incident. It is still not clear what has happened. The Lifewise Team is providing our youth tenants with extra support over this period.

One of our eight units is damaged. We have not yet had clearance on the other seven units. But we will know more by later in the day. We are hopeful that our other tenants can remain on-site.

Lifewise has strong relationships and partners in business, community, tertiary and public sectors, and we look forward to their support during this difficult time.

We will share more updates in due course.
