Fisherman found at Motukaraka Point

"Fisherman found at Motukaraka Point"

At approximately 5.15pm Police were notified that a man had not returned from fishing at Motukaraka Point, Kohukohu, Hokiänga Harbour.

Police conducted a search with Coastguard and air support, along with assistance from the community.

The body of a 65-year-old man was found around 8pm.

Police extend their sympathies and are supporting the man’s family.

The matter has been referred to the coroner.
