"Update - SH 35, Tokomaru Bay crash" [8.24am]

Police can now confirm that the driver of a truck that crashed near Tokomaru Bay this morning was killed in the crash.

Emergency services were called to the crash at 6.40am.

The driver was the sole occupant of the truck.

The road remains closed at the crash site.

Motorists are asked to follow the directions of emergency personnel/signage regarding diversions.

Emergency services are responding after a truck rolled on State Highway 35 (Waiapu Road) near Tokomaru Bay this morning.

Police were notified at 6.40am that a truck had rolled down a bank between Mata Road and Kaiawha Road.

There is no confirmed information regarding injuries at this stage.

An update will be provided as soon as possible.

The road is closed around the crash scene and is expected to remain closed for some time.

Motorists are asked to take alternative routes where possible.
