Trees down in the Queenstown and Central Otago areas

"Trees down in the Queenstown and Central Otago areas"

Motorists are asked to avoid Speargrass Flat Road near Lake Hayes, as two large trees have fallen across the road due to high winds.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand are currently dealing with a number of call-outs in the area, including a power pole fire in Frankton.

There are also reports of a tree down on Earnscleugh Road, near Alexandra which will cause traffic delays.

The windy conditions are making driving dangerous at the present, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

Motorists are asked to take extra care while driving and be alert to the changing conditions.
