"Body found in Wellington lagoon - update Sunday 17 February"

Police are still treating the death of a woman yesterday, whose body was found in Whairepo Lagoon near Frank Kitts Park, as unexplained.

The deceased is 48-year old Sarah Pauline Louise Mayne of Wellington.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Ms Mayne at this sad time.

Ms Mayne’s next-of-kin and family have been informed and Police are working towards establishing the cause, as well as events that lead to her death.

Wellington Police are seeking information from people who were around the wooden boardwalks on the city side of Whairepo Lagoon from 9.00pm on Friday 15 February to around 3.00am Saturday 16 February 2019.

This area is between Frank Kitts Park and Te Papa on the Wellington Waterfront.

If anyone has any information about Ms Mayne’s death, or saw her around this time they are encouraged to contact the Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
