Police are appealing for information following a house fire in the Napier suburb of Taradale this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the property on Cumberland Rise about 3pm.

Two people were in the house at the time but were not injured.

The fire caused significant damage to the living area and initial enquiries indicate it may be suspicious.

Anyone who saw anything out of the ordinary in the area this afternoon is urged to contact local Police or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting file number 190220/3662.
