24 hour carpark closure for QLDC Wānaka office 28 Feb

The delivery of the first of two relocatable buildings for the Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) Wānaka office has now been scheduled for Thursday 28 February.

The relocatable will arrive to the Ardmore Street site in the early hours to avoid commuter traffic and minimise disruption. There will be traffic management in place during this time.

QLDC Property Director Richard Pope advised to ensure the relocatable can be easily moved into position on the foundations, the carpark behind the QLDC office will be closed for one day and cars will need to be removed ahead of the closure.

The carpark will close at 6.00pm on Wednesday 27 February and will reopen after 6.00pm on Thursday 28 February.

“We have factored in a 24 hour timeframe to allow for any unexpected issues but we don’t expect the actual process to take a full day. Our aim is to reopen the carpark to the community as soon as we can,” said Mr Pope.

This delivery forms the beginning of Stage Two of the refurbishment of the Ardmore Street office. While the Wānaka office refurbishment project was expected to be completed in February 2019, as a result of unforeseen delays, this date has shifted.

“We are currently working through the programme schedule to determine the most efficient approach to complete the second relocatable delivery and the fit-out of the buildings, and ultimately what the completion date will be. As soon as this is finalised, we will communicate to the Upper Clutha community about these plans and key dates,” added Mr Pope.
