World record at Eden Park

WORLD RECORD SET AT EDEN PARK

A bumper turnout of 1,711 bootcampers set a new world record for the most people performing a frog squad exercise simultaneously at the World's Biggest Bootcamp at Eden Park on Sunday morning.

"It was an incredible turnout and an amazing atmosphere in the stadium," the event's host David Letele said. "It was so cool to see so many people coming together to set foot on the hallowed turf of Eden Park, work up a sweat and have great time while bringing attention to the obesity epidemic that is having such a negative impact on so many Kiwi lives."

Attendees at the free event, created by the Just Move Charitable Trust, warmed up to a Konga dance exercise routine before Letele put them through their paces in a high energy, low-impact bootcamp set.

The bootcamp culminated in the frog squat world record attempt. Organisers would now be submitting their claim to Guinness Book of World Records, Letele confirmed.

"It was great to post what we are sure will be recognised as a world record," Letele said. "And we're really hopeful that this is just the start of something really cool.

"We'd love to establish an annual, festival-type event that really engages the community and celebrates the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle. So we'll be talking to our sponsors and the city about how we take it to the next level.
