Refuse transfer station hours return to non-summer schedule

After being open to extended hours over the summer, our Council’s seven refuse transfer stations have now returned to their non-summer hours.

The Matarangi, Pauanui, Tairua and Whangamata refuse transfer stations (RTS) have 24/7 drop-off facilities for rubbish in blue bags and recycling.

Our RTS hours and locations are on our website at www.tcdc.govt.nz/rts, and listed below.

Remember, please put your blue Council pre-paid rubbish bags, recycling wheelie bins and crates for glass on the side of the kerb on the morning of your scheduled Kerbside collection. Please don’t hang rubbish bags from trees or poles or leave them in cages for collection. And only fill your glass crates to the rim, don’t overfill them because then glass spills, breaks and makes a mess.

If you’re worried about stray dogs or pesky gulls ripping rubbish bags open before they’re collected, get a Gullinator $15 from any of our Council service centres. The Gullinator is a sturdy mesh with a hoop at one end that sits over your bag.

If you see spilled rubbish, give us a call on 07 868 0200 and we’ll collect it.

If you’re visiting the Coromandel, or leaving home before your property’s Kerbside rubbish and recycling collection day, you can drop off your recycling and your rubbish in blue, pre-paid Council bags for no charge at any of our refuse transfer stations.

The transfer stations listed below all have facilities to accept recyclable materials, green waste, scrap steel, car batteries, household quantities of waste oil and chemicals.

On Good Friday they are closed and on Easter Monday are open on their Sunday hours. On Anzac Day (25 April) they are all open from 1pm to 5:30pm.
