Aucklanders invited to have their say on Sport Investment

Auckland Council wants Aucklanders to help shape a new investment strategy aimed at getting more people active and involved in community sport.

Rapid growth and social change are changing the face of Auckland, creating an opportunity to build a stronger, more diverse and inclusive society. Community sport is a key part of this vision.

The council has developed a plan to encourage this – Increasing Aucklanders’ Participation in Sport: Investment Plan 2019-2039 – and change the way we invest in sport to get more Aucklanders more active more often.

“Community sport can bring people together in both organised and casual environments, improving health, social and cultural outcomes for all Aucklanders.” – Chair of the Environment and Community Committee, Councillor Penny Hulse.

Consultation opened this week and submissions are open to everyone until 8 April 2019.
