Exclusive test drive of the latest pure electric vehicles

A special community event on Saturday 13 April will let people test drive some of the world’s most sought-after battery electric vehicles, and media is getting a chance to get in ahead of the crowds.

From 9am–10am, media will be able to test drive vehicles from Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, LDV, Renault and Volkswagen battery electric vehicles.

One vehicle, the Jaguar I-PACE (pictured), is available exclusively for media to test drive.

The Take Charge Christchurch test drive event is letting people get up close and personal with some of the latest pure electric vehicles, with vehicles from a range of manufacturers stationed in Cathedral Square, and presentations and stalls inside Tūranga.

Hyundai, Kia, LDV, Renault and Volkswagen will all have vehicles in Cathedral Square for the public to test drive from 10am–4pm.
The Take Charge Christchurch programme is a Christchurch City Council initiative that partners with battery electric vehicle suppliers. To encourage the uptake of battery electric zero exhaust emission vehicles by Christchurch businesses and the public, the programme provides the opportunity to test drive and learn more about them.

The public event will also include presentations from vehicle suppliers on what the world can expect to see with new battery electric vehicles in one, two and three years’ time. Presentations are being held in Tūranga’s Level 1 TSB Function Room at 10.30am and 1pm.
