Front counter services across Canterbury resume

Canterbury District Commander Superintendent John Price

Front counters at Police stations across Canterbury have reopened to the public today.

In the wake of the Christchurch Terror Attacks the majority of our staff were involved with the response and so our front counter services were reduced.

Christchurch Central (Te Omeka), Rangiora, Rolleston, Timaru and Ashburton remained open.

I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during this time.

Police are continuing to maintain a high visibility presence across the country.

Canterbury Police also continue to be highly visible in and around Christchurch to reassure and keep the community safe.

The safety of our community and people remains a priority, and due to operational demand the opening hours of Police stations may vary.

This is reassessed each day.

As front counter services resume you are still able to report a crime over the phone by calling your local station or online.

As always in an emergency please dial 111.
