Emergency services are responding to a crash involving a car and a truck in Stanmore Bay, north of Auckland.

Police were called to the crash on Whangaparaoa Road about 8am.

One person is in a critical condition and has been taken to Auckland Hospital.

Another person has moderate injuries.

Part of the road is closed and diversions are in place at Whangaparaoa and Bridgetside Roads, and Whangaparaoa and Beverly Roads.

Delays are expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
