Appointment of Chief of Staff for Mayoral Office

Hamilton Mayor Andrew King and Chief Executive Richard Briggs have today announced the appointment of a Chief of Staff for the Mayoral office.

The Chief of Staff is Jayne Perry, an experienced leader with a strong background in strategy, building organisational capability and leadership. Most recently Jayne has held the role of Global Marketing Manager for More4Apps, a Hamilton based digital development house.

The role of the Chief of Staff is to support the Mayor in his day to day leadership of the city and to support the Office of the Mayor in successfully achieving the Council’s vision, goals and priorities for the city.

The appointment is a fixed term contract which will run through until this year’s Local Government Elections which take place on Saturday 12 October.

The position is funded through existing budgets for the Office of the Mayor, but the position has until now remained unfilled during Mayor King’s time in office.

“Over the next few months, particularly during the pre-election period, there will be increasing pressures and requests for Mayor Andrew’s time as an individual as well as in his position as the Mayor,” Richard Briggs says.

“This position will support the day to day operations of the Office of the Mayor and for Council business over coming months.”

Ms Perry will begin her role on Monday 13 May.
