Porirua Police continue investigating Waitangirua serious assault at weekend

Porirua Police are continuing to investigate a weekend serious assault which has left a 23 year old Cannons Creek man requiring facial reconstruction surgery.

Detective James Withington of the Porirua CIB says at about 2.30am on Saturday 1 October, the 23 year old victim and has friend got into an altercation with a group of people, including two males and a female in the carpark of the Waitangirua Mall.

"As a result, the victim has received some serious head and facial injuries. He remains in a stable condition in the Hutt Hospital, recovering from facial reconstruction surgery."

Detective Withington says Police are still piecing together what has occurred and are keen to hear form anyone who either witnessed the assault or can identify two males and a female who left the area a short time after the incident, in what has been described as a mid-1990's red four door sedan vehicle.

"The victim has endured a vicious beating and we would like assistance from the community to find those responsible. Anyone with any information should phone Porirua Police on (04) 238 1400 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
