Wairarapa Police investigating burglary to Carterton Salvation Army

Wairarapa Police are investigating an overnight burglary to the Salvation Army in Carterton.

Wairarapa Police Tactical Coordinator Senior Sergeant Carolyn Watson says the rear of the building was entered and the offenders forced their way into a freezer where a large number of frozen goods were stolen.

"These items are used by the Salvation Army for emergency food parcels and workers are not sure where they will get the money from the replace these items."

Senior Sergeant Watson says, "It is very disturbing that thieves would steal from an organisation that provides a much needed service to the community and particularly families that need their help at this time of year."

Police would encourage anyone with any information in relation to the burglary to contact Wairarapa Police on (06) 370 0300 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
