Wellington Zoo hosts Neighbours’ BBQ

Media release
24 January 2011

Wellington Zoo hosts Neighbours’ BBQ

Wellington Zoo is hosting its 7th annual Neighbours’ BBQ this Thursday 26 January, from 5-8pm.

Every year the Zoo works with the Wellington City Council to invite its immediate neighbours, including Wellington City Council housing tenants, to visit the Zoo for free after hours.

“We love having the neighbours over and getting them involved with what’s going on in their Zoo,” says Chief Executive, Karen Fifield.

“It’s a great time for our neighbours to come and learn about the animals that they live near. The evening is always filled with fun, with a free sausage sizzle, face painting, activities for kids, and animal talks from keepers.”

“This year, our neighbours will be able to explore all the new areas of the Zoo as well – including Kamala’s, our fantastic new play sculptures and The Roost Te Pae Manu, all of which opened in 2011. They’ll see where our next project, the Asia precinct, will be developed.”

“We love meeting our neighbours and are all looking forward to a great evening to kick off the New Year”.
