Porirua Police release CCTV footage of two men of interest in Tawa robbery

Porirua Police investigating the robbery of Regent Jewellers in Tawa have released CCTV images of two men of interest they need help to identify.

Detective Gareth Barnes of the Porirua CIB says at about 4pm on Tuesday 31 January, a robbery occurred at Regent Jewellers on Main Road, Tawa, where a large quantity of jewellery was stolen. The 85 year old male store owner was injured in the incident.

"We have now identified two men in the attached CCTV footage who we would like to speak with. They may be important witnesses to this robbery or may be able to assist us further and I urge them to come forwarded and make contact with us."

The first male shown in image 1 walked past the Westpac Bank on Essex Street, Tawa shortly before 4:00pm.He is described as Caucasian, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue pants and a cap.

The second male shown in images 2 and 3 was in the Tawa Central Dairy on Main Road, Tawa at 3:00pm.

"This male is described as Caucasian with short hair, wearing a dark coloured hooded zip up sweatshirt with a white coloured pattern covering the front and both arms, and a dark coloured collared shirt underneath."

Detective Barnes says Police would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone or anything suspicious on the Main Road in Tawa on the afternoon of Tuesday 31st January 2012.

"We'd also like to hear from anyone who may be able to identify these two men in the CCTV footage. We really appreciate the help we have received from the community so far, which has greatly assisted our investigation."
