‘Weather bomb’ causes postponements

The severe weather forecast to hit the Wellington region has caused the postponement of Saturday’s ASB Sunset Sessions event at Shorland Park in Island Bay.

The free concert featuring Ria Hall and Matthew Pickering will now be held on Tuesday 6 March 6-7pm and 7-8.30pm respectively.

Sunday’s Sunset Sessions with Phoebe Hurst and Sophie & the Realistic Expectations are still programmed to go ahead but if the weather doesn’t improve a cancellation decision will be made by 12 noon on Sunday.

The expected bad weather has also caused the postponement of tomorrow’s Seaweek Community Snorkel Day in the Island Bay Marine Reserve. This will now take place next Sunday 11 March.

The Culture Kicks ethnic football tournament, at Wakefield Park, is still going ahead at this stage but a decision will be made at 8am tomorrow, if the weather is too severe.

The Newtown Festival will still be going ahead on Sunday, come rain or shine, but if the weather is still bad then some aspects of the event may change such as using local bars and community centres for the various staged performances.

For cancellations and postponement updates, please call 499 4444, or visit the Summer City Wellington page on Facebook - www.facebook.com/summercitywellington
