Police seek help from public on Miramar indecent assault

Police seek help from public following Miramar indecent assault last Thursday

Wellington Police are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a man who indecently assaulted a woman on Park Road, Miramar last Thursday morning.

Acting Detective Sergeant Sam Mercer of the Wellington CIB says around 10:15am on Thursday 1 March, the victim was walking north on Park Road, between Whanganui Street and Revans Street, when she saw a male with his hand down his pants, who appeared to be masturbating.

"The man then approached the woman from behind and indecently assaulted her. She was able to run away, and turned back to see the same male with his pants down exposing himself."

Acting Detective Sergeant Mercer says the same male was then seen acting suspiciously on Maupuia Road a short time later, between 10.30am and 11.00am.

The offender is described as being in his late teens, of mixed ethnicity, about five foot five in height and of large build. He was wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt, with grey track pants.

"We would also like to identify and speak to the man in the attached CCTV images who was seen in the area at the time of these incidents. Anyone with any information should phone us on (04) 381 2000 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
