Tax information seminar for settlers

Tax information seminar for settlers

13 March 2012

New settlers to New Zealand will be able to find out all about our tax system at a free seminar on Wednesday, 21 March from 5.30 till 7pm at Forum North.

Inland Revenue Department (IRD), the government agency that administers tax and social policies, has a special service that helps migrants and newcomers to become well informed on tax issues.

Facilitators from IRD will provide a general overview on tax entitlements and obligations including overseas income, New Zealand social policies, Working for Families, KiwiSaver, Child Support and Student Loans and the Inland Revenue services that are available. They will also give practical advice for starting businesses.

“There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and have discussions,” Settlement Support coordinator Ellen Altshuler said.

“Many newcomers have enquired about various aspects of tax in New Zealand. This seminar will be really informative and should answer most of the questions that newcomers have. It should also make it easier to approach IRD with questions in the future.”

The free seminar begins at 5.30 pm and continues until 7 pm in the Bounty Room at Forum North, Rust Ave, in Whangarei. Tea, coffee and a snack are included. Everyone is welcome to attend.

To register or for further information contact Settlement Support Whangarei, phone 09 470 3056 or Email ssnzwhangarei@wdc.govt. nz

This seminar is one of a series of free information seminars offered by Settlement Support – Whangarei, a free information and referral service for migrants and newcomers to help them settle into the Whangarei community.
