Outstanding Response To Tauranga And Western Bay Of Plenty Community Awards

Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty locals have got behind their volunteers with 56 entries received for the TrustPower Tauranga Community Awards and 43 entries received for the TrustPower Western Bay of Plenty Community Awards.

Entries for the Community Awards closed on Friday 23 March. Both the Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty Community Awards, which recognise and reward volunteers for the outstanding contribution they make to the local community, are run in conjunction with the Tauranga City Council and Western Bay of Plenty District Council respectively.

TrustPower Community Relations Co-ordinator Suzi Luff says she is delighted with the amount of entries received and is glad that so many hard working community groups will be celebrated through this year’s local TrustPower Community Awards.

“These groups are the heart and soul of the community. They work hard to provide so much for those who live in the Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty districts. It is wonderful that through the TrustPower Community Awards we can thank and appreciate them for this hard work,” says Miss Luff.

The Awards cover five categories; Heritage and Environment, Health and Wellbeing, Arts and Culture, Sport and Leisure, and Educational and Child/Youth Development. The category winners receive $500 and runners-up receive $250. The Supreme Winner will take home $1,500, a trophy, framed certificate and an all-expenses paid trip to the TrustPower National Community Awards.
