Celebrate Auckland Anniversary Weekend on Your Waterfront


Auckland Anniversary Weekend on the waterfront is shaping up to be one of the best anniversary celebrations the waterfront has ever seen. We are excited to see the revitalised waterfront host an awesome line-up of events offering something for everyone’s taste.

St Jerome's Laneway Festival is making its way back to Silo Park for the second year and Auckland Seafood Festival is back on Halsey Wharf for all the seafood lovers.

There are also lots of free activities to get amongst throughout the weekend. So say happy 173rd birthday to the City of Sails by watching waka and dragon boat races, taking a boat ride, catching a busker as you stroll the promenade or just chill out with some awesome live music.

International Buskers Festival

Wynyard Quarter & Viaduct

Friday 25 - Monday 28 January

Into its 13th year, the annual Auckland International Buskers Festival will be showcasing 11 of the most spectacular street performers on earth.

Make your way to the waterfront to catch these amazing performers put on a wacky show.

Silo Cinema - The Sound of Music

Silo Park

Friday 25 January - 9pm

To celebrate Auckland Anniversary Weekend, Silo Cinema presents; The Mayor's Movie – The Sound of Music.

There’ll be generations who grew up with it, and generations who need to have it in their lives; it’s a crowd pleasing classic. Settle in this Friday night under the stars and watch the Von Traps belt out a few classics.

Silo Sessions curated by Laneway Festival

Saturday 26 January - 12pm-6pm

This very special edition of Silo Sessions will take place just two days before the much anticipated Laneway Festival, and will feature an epic line-up curated by the Laneway programming team; SJD, Tigertown (AUS), Ghostwave, Tom Lark, and more.

Shop around at the Silo Markets, grab a bite, and enjoy the free tunes courtesy of Silo Sessions and St Jerome's Laneway Festival.

Bluelight Kids Gone Fishin'

North Wharf

Saturday 26 - Sunday 27 January

If you’re heading down to the waterfront this Anniversary Weekend with the kids, make sure you check out Kids Gone Fishin’.

Join Graeme Sinclair and the team from Police Blue Light for a morning of fishing, face painting, and music. There will also be spot prizes up for grabs, including prizes for the biggest and ugliest fish caught.

The event is free but you will need to get a ticket online to secure a spot for the kids.

Voyager NZ Maritime Museum

Saturday 26 - Monday 28 January

The team at Voyager NZ Maritime Museum are celebrating Auckland Anniversary Weekend with a range of activities for the whole family.

Get the kids involved with a ship in a bottle workshop, or make and race your own air powered boats. Jump aboard a Ted Ashby or Breeze sailing and take in some of the Regatta action while you’re out there.

Waitemata Harbour

Monday 28 January

Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta is one of the world’s oldest sailing regattas, incorporating events for all types of yachts big and small, dragon boats, tugboats, remote controlled yachts, and more.

There are 16 events happening in different parts of the Hauraki Gulf, so make sure you get down and see some amazing parades, races, and displays.
