Escape to Where Food And Wine Take Centre Stage with
Peppers Parehua Martinborough

The world class food and wine of the Wairarapa has been brought to life at Peppers Parehua Martinborough with the ‘Peppers Gourmet Food Trail’ - a national initiative introduced by the boutique accommodation provider which celebrates regional produce and fine wines across its eight retreats and resorts across New Zealand.

Peppers Parehua Martinborough – located just over an hour’s drive from Wellington - is offering guests a journey through quality local produce and fine food with its Gourmet Food Trail package, starting from $249 per night staying in a cosy Winemakers Cottage, including a sumptuous breakfast at Pavilion Restaurant for two people.

The gourmet experience begins on arrival at the extensive country estate with a complimentary local tasting plate featuring poached orchard fruits and artisan bread, Parkvale marinated Mushrooms and Ngawi Brie and Tinui Blue Cheese hand crafted by Kingsmeade Cheese.
Visit www.peppers.co.nz/parehua for bookings and information.
Peppers have made it easy for guests to experience the Wairarapa’s Gourmet Food Trail with a self-drive Food Trail Map to meet the food heroes behind the produce and see how some of the region’s finest wine, cheese and olive oil are made.

Peppers Gourmet Food Trail Map Highlights of the Wairarapa include:

Martinborough is home to as many olive groves as vineyards. Olivo produces a range of extra virgin and infused oils which are used in the Pavilion Restaurant menu and lovingly created by Helen Meehan. Guests of Peppers Parehua are invited to tour the grove, taste the range of oils and learn recipe ideas from Helen. Moon over Martinborough produces high-quality artisan blends of olive oil from their organically grown olives. Owner Jared Gulian also has an award-winning blog about the life of a Detroit city boy on a tiny olive farm in rural New Zealand. Guests of Peppers Parehua that purchase a bottle of Moon over Martinborough will be given complimentary bread for dipping during dinner at Pavilion Restaurant.

Miles and Janet King of Kingsmeade Cheese are recognised locally and internationally for their distinctive artisan cheese made from their own flock of East Friesian milking sheep which live on their idyllic 30-acre farm. Particularly famous is their Castlepoint Feta and Sunset Blue. Guests of Peppers Parehua are encouraged to sample the whole range of Kingsmeade’s earthy cheeses.

On return to Peppers Parehua, Martinborough guests are encouraged to relax and enjoy the large sweeping gardens, panoramic views and private lake of the property. The Pavilion Restaurant menu expertly showcases local artisan produce with over 90 per cent of the produce coming from local artisans including fresh fish from the fishing fleet at Marconee Seafoods (Masterton) and home-smoked bacon, hams and chicken from Scotty’s Meats, one of the few remaining traditional butchers in the area.
The Peppers Gourmet Food Trail offers a host of events, packages and gastronomic offerings across Peppers Retreats and Resorts in New Zealand and Australia. Visit www.peppers.co.nz/food for more information.
