Census forms can be completed at Hastings District Libraries

Census forms can be completed at Hastings District Libraries

The next New Zealand Census takes place on Tuesday 5th March 2013 and Hastings District Libraries are offering free internet access to anyone who wants to complete their forms online.

Everyone in the country – including babies, children and visitors – will need to fill in a census form or have one filled in for them. The 2013 Census is particularly important as it is the first since 2006 as the 2011 Census was cancelled because of the Canterbury earthquakes.

District Libraries Manager Paula Murdoch says “Your local library is providing this valuable, free service as we are aware that some people would like to fill out their forms online but don’t have a computer or the internet at home.”

Paula Murdoch says “When using a library computer to fill in your census form, you will need to bring the paper forms and the internet ID that were provided when your census forms were delivered.”

“You will need to allow plenty of time as each form will take at least 15 minutes to complete. Statistics New Zealand co-ordinates the census and is encouraging as many people as possible to fill out their census forms online” Paula Murdoch says.

You don’t have to wait until Census day to complete your forms online - staff encourage you to ask at your library today.
