Businesses collaborate to support inaugural TEDxQueenstown

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE PARTNERS OF TEDXQUEENSTOWN

Local businesses collaborate to support inaugural TEDxQueenstown

Queenstown New Zealand, March 1, 2013: Local businesses inspired by the inaugural TEDxQueenstown, have come forward in support. Promoting the great thinkers of our district and beyond and in the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDxQueenstown is part of a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Queenstown Resort College (QRC) has the lead sponsorship spot ‘Standing on the Shoulders of Giants’ and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Phillips says that as the premium tertiary education supplier in the area, QRC fully understands the value of supporting an event that celebrates new ideas.

“Education on all levels is a key growth segment, and the extraordinary thinking of the TEDxQueenstown speakers helps position our region as a serious study destination - a place where people who take study seriously can be found. A big part of growth as a student and as a human being is being open to new thoughts. TEDxQueenstown will be a magnificent filter and conduit for new ideas and thinking.”

In recognition of great minds around the district, Artbay Gallery is a supporting ‘Emerging Minds’ partner’, while Hilton Queenstown provides the venue for TEDxQueenstown and accommodation for out-of-town speakers.

QRC Business Development Manager, Clodagh Hall is delighted with the partnership line-up.

“TEDxQueenstown offers a perfect non-traditional partnership opportunity for us. We’re working with other local businesses to supporting something that speaks directly to people who are committed to listening. This event is about innovators, change makers and early adopters,” she said. “While the event itself has only 100 people in physical attendance, the audience is actually world-wide.”

Businesses providing valuable services as in-kind sponsorship are: Nemo Workroom, 1-night, Shipleys, LightSpeed Technologies, 3 Fold Print, Sign It Signs, Fetch NZ, Orange, Cup & Cake and Fluid.
