Clarification of areas mentioned in Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management tsunami report

With reference to our earlier news release on the Review of Tsunami Hazard in New Zealand (2013 Update) report released today, which reinforces the need for the public to understand and be prepared to respond to the threat of a tsunami.

The Ministry’s news release, which was quoted in ours, incorrectly identified the area where tsunami caused by local and regional sources pose a greater hazard than previously just as the north-west of Auckland.

This should have read the north-east and north-west part of the Auckland region and Great Barrier Island, along with the coasts of Northland, the Coromandel Peninsula, and the Bay of Plenty;
