Pasifika – a chance to help cyclone response

Pasifika – a chance to help cyclone response

Volunteers from Oxfam will be on hand at tomorrow’s Positively Pasifika festival in Wellington to collect donations to help Tonga recover from the devastation of Cyclone Ian.

There’ll be a bucket collection – and Mayor Celia Wade-Brown is urging people coming to the festival to be generous in their response. Please bring cash as there’ll be no eftpos facilities on site.

People will also be encouraged to make an automatic $3 donation to the Oxfam Cyclone Appeal by texting HELP to 4847.
Oxfam New Zealand is working to meet the most urgent needs for people in Tonga's northern island group of Ha'apai following last week’s cyclone. Money is urgently needed to help provide food, shelter, clean water and sanitation.

The Positively Pasifika Festival is on at Waitangi Park from 12 noon, featuring Rosita Vai, the Laughing Samoans and Bella Kalolo, workshops, performances, film screenings, food stalls and crafts.
