Wellington Police CBD safety survey

Wellington Police are asking people who live, work and enjoy the CBD to participate in their safety survey. The survey will be used to help plan crime prevention initiatives undertaken by Police and our Safer City partners. 

Wellington Area Commander Inspector Chris Scahill says "Police work hard to make sure that our CBD is a safe and welcoming environment and that people enjoy the heart of our city".

"The vast majority of people feel safe in the city during the day and almost 70% of people feel safe in the city after dark. We need to keep working to improve this for the those who feel unsafe."

"Our crime data analysis shows that a significant proportion of overall crime occurs in the CBD and we need to keep working hard to bring that down."

"That means not only responding to incidents when they occur but also putting our efforts into crime prevention as well. We want to hear what people's experiences of the CBD are and any ideas they have so we can work together to make the CBD safer."

The results of the survey will be used to plan the activities of the Wellington Metro Neighbourhood Policing Team over the next 24 months.
