Notice of water shutdown along Maunu Road

Media Release

28 February 2014

Notice of water shutdown along Maunu Road

Water supply along Maunu Rd and surrounds will be shut down overnight on Tuesday 4 March from 10.00pm to 6am.

The work is being carried out between SH1/SH14 intersection and Porowini Ave to allow a fire hydrant to be installed and to remove a redundant valve from the existing main.

WDC Water Services Engineer, Simon Charles said that the shutdown is being done overnight to minimise the impact on residents and businesses in the area.

“Everything going to plan there should be very little impact but we wanted to make sure people are aware of it just in case there are any supply issues,” he said.

“When the water comes back on it may take a short amount of time to adjust the pressures correctly so you may experience slightly lower or slightly higher water pressure for a time in the morning.”

Most areas will be without water for the duration, so are advised to store water for drinking and in buckets for flushing toilets, doing dishes etc. Streets that will be affected will be notified by a letter drop.

If people need water desperately, the contractor (Fulton Hogan) will have a water carrier on standby and they should call the contractor on 0277028785 (Project Supervisor’s number) or 0800 PROGRESS
