Sunday 2 November 2014 is the confirmed date for Kapiti Run for Youth, says Richard Calkin of Web Genius. After raising just over $14,000 from the 2013 event Richard is looking forward to see how much money can be raised this year for Youth Quest (the main benefactor) and other fundraising partners.

Richard goes on to say that “that he is aware of two fantastic stories where exceptional personal and team campaigns were run to raise significant sums of money last year. Kate Tieman of Web Genius was motivated in to this event as she said “it’s common to see fundraisers for kids, animals and diseases etc but not often do you see one that works with troubled teens to get them back on the right track. I think support for this cause is needed as it benefits everyone in the community to have these teens be an asset as opposed to a disturbance.” To fundraise Kate leveraged off the clothing brand ‘Black Milk’ and local Black Milk lovers by running a Facebook campaign to sponsor her and go into the draw to win two $50 Black Milk vouchers. Kate recommends this event to other individuals or teams as a great cause and an opportunity for friends, family and colleagues to get together and have fun.

Owner of Jade Property Management, Cindy Foote, motivated her team to raise the most money by one team. She said “the event was a great cause, easy to fundraise for and a real team effort with each person trying to outdo each other in the Office, so very motivating all round.” To raise money they used Facebook, BNI networks and emails with a footer and link to the Kapiti Run for Youth web site. Cindy would definitely recommend other teams getting involved as it was “an awesome challenge and win/win for all – great for our fitness and a great way to raise money” said Cindy.

Kapiti Run for Youth 2014 will be inviting registrations in April. A toolbox of resources is being developed to coincide with the launch to help support all fundraisers.
