HBRC happy community listened to over Oil & Gas Exploration
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is delighted the Government has heeded the call to exclude the region’s productive aquifers from the latest block offer for Oil & Gas exploration.
Yesterday the Government announced a further 405,000 square kilometres released for tender. The areas include three onshore release areas in the East Coast Basin, Taranaki Basin and West Coast Basin and five offshore areas in the Reinga-Northland Basin, Taranaki Basin, New Caledonia Basin, Pegasus-East Coast Basin, and Great South-Canterbury Basin.
Late last year HBRC, along with Tukituki MP Craig Foss lobbied the Government to exclude Hawke’s Bay’s productive aquifers from any future block offer.
HBRC Group Manager Resource
Management Iain Maxwell says it is great news that the
Government has listened to the local community.
