Boil Water Notice in Place for Long Weekend

Boil Water Notice in Place for Long Weekend

Ruapehu District Council (RDC) is leaving the boil water notice in place for Taumarunui over the long weekend to allow through testing of the newly installed filter parts.

RDC had hoped to be able to lift the boiled water notice by today (Fri 30 May).

RDC Chief Executive, Peter Till, said that the new parts have been installed and Council’s contractor Veolia Water has been running continuous tests on it.

“With the recent bad weather and the Whanganui River running high and dirty we want to ensure that the filter can cope with these conditions before lifting the boil water notice.”

“Council would like to thank everyone who has been affected by this event for their patience and understanding,” he said.

“We are working as quickly as we can but cannot afford to take risks with the community’s health.”

“We ask that the Taumarunui community is patient for just a few more days until we can confidently lift the boiled water notice.”
