Police seeking witnesses to assaults.

At about 1:30am on Sunday 29 June 2014 an altercation occurred in the car park of the Newfield Tavern, Centre Street, Invercargill, in which a 41 year old male was assaulted and knocked to the ground. He sustained minor injuries and was treated at Southland Hospital.

A short time later a second altercation occurred on the front lawn of a residential property in nearby Wye Street. It appears a 28 year old male was chased to the address by a group of people and was also assaulted. He sustained injuries to his head and eye and was taken to Southland hospital for treatment and later flown to Dunedin hospital.

At this stage no arrests have been made. Sergeant David Kennelly of Invercargill Police would like to hear from anyone who has information or who witnessed either of these assaults. Phone Invercargill Police on 03 211 0400
