Wellington Police investigating alleged sexual
assault on Buckle Street

Wellington Police are investigating an
alleged sexual assault that occurred around 1.30am on Sunday
3 August on Buckle Street, Wellington.
While the
18-year-old young woman was walking near the National War
Memorial on Buckle Street an unknown male has sexually
assaulted her. A full scene examination has been completed
in the area and several items have been seized.
Detective
Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson says "This assault has been
very distressing for the victim and we are offering her
support. Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area
at the time or seen anyone acting suspicious in the
area."
"Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area
and have increased foot patrols. At this stage, we believe
it is an isolated
incident."
