Coastlands expanded food court to open this summer

Coastlands has announced a new expanded food court will open later this year, providing visitors to the shopping centre with more choice and a unique new dining experience.

The project, which commenced on the 4th of May, takes over the space previously held by Café Brie and Kodak, with a total floor area of 400m2 being repurposed to incorporate the expanded food court area.

Chief Executive for Coastlands, Richard Mansell says the new work will include a total revamp of these tenancies and also a complete makeover of the bridge area. “The new layout will provide our shoppers and diners with a truly unique experience,” says Mr Mansell.

“We were keen to utilise the outlook of the stream that runs between the expanded food court area,” he explains. “This is a feature that sets us apart from all other shopping centres, so we wanted to incorporate it into our new design. As a result, the expanded food court will be in a U-shape, providing our visitors with a great outlook of the stream.”

A temporary hoarding has been placed around the area to allow the demolition work to begin. “This part of the project will take around four weeks to complete and then we can begin the actual construction of the new food court, which will link in well with the existing food court,” explains Mr Mansell.

“Our current food court is trading extremely well and there is customer demand for an even greater food offering. We’re excited by the opportunity to deliver more choice and an even better customer experience.”

The new and expanded food court is set to open later this year, and will feature up to four new food outlets and 120 additional seats for diners. Jan Forrest, Centre Manager said that the leasing of the tenancies is underway and that the first lease has now been signed. “We’re pleased to confirm that Tank Juice will occupy the front site in the expanded food court area, bringing their delicious range of fresh juices, smoothies, salads and wraps to Kapiti Coast shoppers.”

Mr Mansell says the expanded food court will not only allow for the addition of new tenants, but will also help to attract more traffic to the shopping centre’s existing stores as well as surrounding businesses.
The expanded food court is just one of several changes planned for the shopping centre this year. “We expect to be able to make a number of other exciting announcements over the next few weeks,” says Mr Mansell.
